Korea biotechnology startup Embiome, a spin off from Hyundai Motor Company, succeeded in partnering with ‘Grab’, the largest vehicle sharing service company in Southeast Asia. Embiome expects that the opportunity to advance into Southeast Asia will increase as its products are mounted on Grab vehicles. Southeast Asia is emerging as a land of opportunity in the domestic start-up industry, such as Yanolza and the people of delivery in Southeast Asia.

◆ From Hyundai Motor Company’s in-house venture to advance into Southeast Asia – According to related industries, Embiome recently signed a partnership with Grab to supply sterilizer and vehicle air conditioner eco-coating (deodorant) products to Grab vehicles. Embiome is a company started by Hyundai Motor Researcher Yoon Ki-young as an in-house venture program in 2014, and was spun off from Hyundai Motor last year.

Embiome plans to set up a head quarter in Singapore for its Southeast Asian business. This is to increase sales through localization strategies.
